WOMAN, SCAFFOLDING

The concept comes from a lingering memory that I have, from having watched, many years ago, the movie “The Agony and the Ecstasy” (1965), particularly the scene in which Michelangelo struggles to paint, laid on his back, climbed on top of a wood scaffolding, and paints pour into his eyes. The animation illustrates the visual proofs captured in my apartment during a performance in which I am stacking two pieces of furniture, so I can climb and stand comfortably on top of them to draw on the ceiling. Metaphorically, it is about a female character rising to reach a higher place from the murky, earthy, and vegetal depths of her bed.
