ABSTRACT CIRCLE
by Ana Maria Micu and Cătălin Petrişor
coordinated by Cătălin Davidescu
An Open-air Mobile Painting Workshop: 22 - 29 July 2014; Daily 8-11 and 17-20
Locations: different areas of Brestei neighborhood, Craiova
Cătălin Petrişor works on a series of paintings in which he wants to associate abstract art movements with the geometric decorative motifs used on wrought iron fences and security bars that can be seen in urban areas. In this context, he has come to identify the need to practice outdoor painting in front of the selected model. Thus, the performative act and the direct contact with reality are highlighted as the key conceptual components of the work.
Petrişor installs an easel and paints in places that provide him with inspiring models, and his work is documented by Ana Maria Micu. Both artists are available for discussions related to the description of their action and encourage passers-by to try by themselves to mix colors and apply them on provided canvases.
The project was made with the support of Craiova - 2021 European Capital of Culture Association.
