THE WALL WATCHER
video archive started in September 2016

In some sunny mornings, around 8, the wall opposite my desk receives dramatic shadows, cast by the trees outside and the plants I have on my windowsill.

The purpose of this project is to record something that I am missing while attending my daily routines. I invite the viewer in my working and living space, otherwise unavailable, to join me in wall watching, an activity that if found satisfying, could be replicated elsewhere.

My primary interest in this comes from a painter's perspective. It is an exercise in discipline and proficiency to observe an image appearing and disappearing outside my controls. Also, as an artist, I see it as my job to be mindful of areas of life where nothing seems to happen. I train myself to be a watcher, a catcher, and a keeper of things that usually go unnoticed.

I absorb some of the frustration by eliminating from the beginning non-eventful clips and, although I might increase my personal archive, only the most significant and minimal material is to be made public.
