The core concept of the exhibition comes from a lingering memory that I have, from having watched, many years ago, the movie “The Agony and the Ecstasy” (1965), particularly the scene in which Michelangelo struggles to paint, laid on his back, climbed on top of a wood scaffolding, and paints pour into his eyes.
I am associating this memory of mine with an observation that occurred to me now, regarding the ceilings of my studio rooms as being almost the only space that I have at my disposal to which I did not yet assign any utilitarian exploitation. A hand-painted animation illustrates the visual proofs captured in my apartment during a performance in which I am stacking two pieces of furniture, so I can climb and stand comfortably on top of them to draw on the ceiling. Metaphorically the show would be about a female character rising to reach a higher place from the murky, earthy, and vegetal depths of her bed. |

The mural's size is 400 x 484 cm., covering one single entire wall. The materials I intend to use to make it is 1 bucket of white wall paint and pigments for tinting wall paints.

ANIMATION AND 3 CORRESPONDING FINISHED PAINTINGS
I will provide the animation as a 4K video file. Ideally, it should be played from a 4K 3840x2180 TV. If such a model can not be made available by the gallery, a HD 1920x1080 monitor would suffice.
The animation subject matter is based on video footage collected during a studio performance, depicting myself climbing a scaffold improvised from pieces of furniture, which ensures my comfort drawing on the ceiling. This fragment bellow is 1/3 of the entire animation.
